This reprint in one volume of the Ethnological
Society Bulletin, produced between 1953 and 1961, brings together eleven
issues, including over a hundred articles by students of Addis Ababa
University College. The contributions address a wide range of social and
cultural issues and represent a testimony to the enthusiasm and dedication
of a generation of Ethiopian students committed to developing a better
understanding of Ethiopia’s societies and cultures. This collection of now
rare and historically valuable articles also includes a preface by the
